When shakedown was activated about 9 months ago, it was a little rushed and definitely has room for improvement.
I have to make some changes and additions such as an area for our forum sponsors to be able to advertise and or add their links/logo's etc.
Seeing as I have to do this I may as well make any other changes that will make shakedown a more enjoyable place for its members.
If you have any ideas, no matter how small, silly or radical that you think they may be, please post them here. Whether it be ideas on the forum layout, the home page, anything please have your say.

I guess you can store all my tech ramblings in a dedicated technical sub-section?

Mobile could use some love, it's a little fiddly at the moment. There seems to be a Kunena mobile plugin available, which looks nice.

Speaking of mobile, I need to log in every time I open the site on my phone. Perhaps there are some cookie settings somewhere to keep sessions active?

Linking these as featured articles on the homepage could be cool.

Less subfora or preferably none in the sports car section (I'm pretty sure that's the reason why many people missed Jono's Q&A, can make the Q&As stick on top). Big obvious link to www.gt-report.com ;)

More posts on a page in a topic (25? 50? Let me know if this is already customizable).

A link to the oldest unread post in a topic.

Android smilies maybe?

I second Miguels notion of more posts per page. Needs to be way more.

The cutting should be members only. No guests.

Yeah, I agree with linking to the last read post, and ease of mobile usage. Otherwise, it's pretty choice bro.

Mine already takes me to the last unread post in each thread.
My page opens on 'Recent Topics' and all the threads with unread posts are at the top, with the number of new posts, and the thread opens on the first unread post. Very happy with that. Would agree with more posts per page, or an option to customize it.

Shakedown needs a favicon. I'm no artist, but I've hacked the purple 'S' out of the header image and run it through www.favicon-generator.org/ to generate a favicon in all the standard sizes. It's a bit rough TBH, and would ideally be done from an original 310x310px icon so it looks crisp at all sizes.

Zip attached, hopefully.

What the heck are you talking about Pierre? - have mercy on us senior citizens who used inkwells, abacus and sensible things when at school.

Too old for women so it's cars and truffles from now on.

Haha. "favicon" is internet-shorthand for "favourite icon". Websites have them so that when you bookmark the site, you get a little logo.

In my first picture above, you can see my bookmarks for Motorsport Mag, Speedcafe, DSC, B12hr, AusGT, and then a sad face at Shakedown's "I don't have a favicon" placeholder. My suggestion is that we have a little purple "S" in that spot.

In terms of problems we face in the modern world, this one rates highly.

Obviously.

It's very easy to do: Just convert a 32x32 image to .ico and upload it named favicon.ico to the root folder on the server.

Hey all, I've now come on board to help Brad with the site. I have a little experience messing around with websites, and a fair bit with moderating communities, so hopefully I'll be useful in getting some site improvements rolled out. (It also enables Brad to occasionally shout "Mop and bucket to aisle 3!" over the intercom, and continue sipping his shandy. It's nice to have some help.)

I'll spend some time getting familiar with the admin tools first. There's a chance you'll see weird things when I click stuff to see what happens, then madly scramble for the undo button. Rest assured, I spoke to numerous trained professionals at a bar once.

We'll continue to use this thread to discuss updates, so keep the feeback rolling in. :)

Good luck Pierre, the world of web can get a bit tangled ;)

I was thinking though, could we get a button at the bottom of each page that returned you to the top of the page?
