Just got home and have the enjoyable task of going through the 2500+ photos I took. I'll post links up in the next couple of days.

As far as the event itself goes, I can't recommend it enough. Well run, great support race categories and always something new in the big race (loved the C63 Merc). I've already booked my hotel for 2019.

From what I could tell the crowd seemed to be down on 2017, but from a selfish point of view I don't mind a small crowd-you can move around a lot easier.

Plenty of pics and a review to come.

When I saw that it was being broadcast on fox i thought thats great some more exposure for the event, then i saw that it was at the expense of the live stream and WTF is all I can say. Stupid move to block the people who may have actually have been half interested in the race and don't have a foxtel rip off subscription.

I've puzzled over it. Safe to assume there was a bit of cash on offer, and that enabled them to secure Hindy. Which I loved, and it gives the event some gravitas on the international stage. But what does that really achieve I wonder? International viewers still watch for free. Do they want to attract international talent? That seems unnecessary.

Is the intention to use that exposure as a springboard to increase attendance locally? That would seem backwards, as going to pay TV generally has a negative effect on race attendance. Maybe there's no plan other than to take the deal and let crowd numbers be whatever they are.

Nothing but questions.

Great pics James!

I didn't watch the 6 Hour, as I don't have Foxtel and I can happily wait until Speedweek next weekend for the 2 Hour highlight. However, I did watch the supports and surely the greatest drive on the weekend was not in the main race, but in the final race of ProdSports.

Keith Kassulke was brilliant to watch in his MARC Mark2, and it all the more feel good to watch as he has had a long recovery after his Ascari accident a few years back.

Spent four days at the race this year and loved every minute.
Hadn't done a 6 hour Thursday before.
Thursday pit walk is just like the 12 hour except we were the only ones there.
Supports were good value, Excels were a big surprise, it's 1970s Formula Vee with roofs.
I agree that it felt like the crowd was down on 2017 but the 6 hour was again an amazing race.
It had the dramatic finish we were sort of denied at the 12 hour due to the crash.

Great review James3592.

A question to all though over the Kia Stinger, loads of people from Hindy down, and me, loved its looks as one of the course cars.

It is a $60,000 car (compared to the $150,000 BMWs and the Lotuses I expect will be in the race next year), but I wonder whether a top team would be willing to take it on.

Maybe some factory support might change things.

Great review - very similar to my thoughts.

The 2 Prod sports 60 min enduros provided some sensational racing and the same winning team in each race. Brad Shiel drove the wheels off the patron's Porsche and in race 1 hauled the beast from 5th to a fantastic win. The way he carved through the topnotch cars immediately in front of him was a lesson in patience and the killer instinct. Danric is acknowledged as the best passer in F1 and I believe young Brad has the crown in Prod sports - very similar style and placements of the vehicle. The final lap was a 2.06 a time the good pointy end 12 hour cars were doing just a few weeks ago. Not only is he a sensational talent he is highly presentable on and off track as well as being a local. Call me biased but I believe the effort and support his parents have put in as well as his own commitment are really reaping rewards and he will be a star of the future.
The Excels were a real surprise ( one could say excellent but that is rather lame) and displayed an enthusiasm to have a go that I thought would not be so evident. Considering the huge field the standard of driving overall was very good and surprised many people.

A great event and next year will be even better.

Too old for women so it's cars and truffles from now on.
