Round Twelve: Six Hours of Bahrain

NOVEMBER 16-18

And so here we are-the finale of the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship and also the last round of our comp for this season. Thank you for sharing the journey with us.

With the drivers and manufacturer’s titles sewn up in Shanghai, Porsche will be free from the title chase to grab the win in what will be the final race for the LMP1 programme. Toyota will be out to spoil the party and having lost the title they will also be chasing the prized win in the final round of the 2017 season. With Toyota looking to be the sole hybrid factory entry for next year’s Super Season this will be the last time we will see the 1000hp hybrid monsters go head to head.So like last years race when we see Audi leave and Mark Webber's last ever race, this years race too will see another chapter come to a close with Weissach heading to Formula E. What a crying shame-anyways I digress...

Bruno Senna and Julien Canal of Valliante Rebellion take the lead in LMP2 into the final round over their rivals from Jackie Chan DC Racing, Ho Pin Tung, Oliver Jarvis and Thomas Laurent. An exciting race in Shanghai saw the Anglo Swiss team take back the lead heading into the final race.

In GTE Pro the leaders, AF Corse duo James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi are separated only by two points from their main title rivals from Porsche GT, Fred Mako and Richard Lietz. The battle will be fiercely fought with much pride on the line for the two marques even though the manufacturer title has been decided. Aston Martin Racing will out to be get one last win for the old girl Vantage and I mean old as shes been in service for nearly a decade.

In GTE Am the Aston Martin trio of Pedro Lamy, Mattias Lauda and Paul Dalla Lana lead the championship by ten points after a fine haul of points in Shanghai pushed them ahead of their Dempsey Proton rivals. The trio will be looking for their first title after several near misses over the years. The two Ferrari teams Spirit of Race and Shakedown favourites Clearwater Racing will be out to make amends for a disastrous showing in Shanghai.

So for this round we are tipping in two classes P1 and GTE Pro

One point is given for accurately tipping the outright pole winner which will be a P1 car

And one point is given for tipping a top three position within the top three.

Please note that if there are less then three P1 finishers then third goes to who last retired before race end.

or

Two points for an exact finishing position within the top three

FOR EACH CLASS P1 and GTE Pro

So with that in mind a perfect score would gather thirteen points.

Please feel free to post your tips up in this thread until that time. You can change your tips as often as you like before then, you can either edit your post or if you can't do that then make another post-if in that case we'll take the latest post by the poster in this thread as their final tips.

Can you please use this format for your post

3.

GTE-Pro

Besides your tips, banter and other chat are allowed.

Any questions message me or KSM86 or post in this thread as we'll keep an eye on it through out race week.

Well here we are!

The chequered flag has fallen on the comp for this year.

First up the Round Twelve Results

Courtesy of the point for pole the winner for this final round is Richo with 7 points beating out Goat69 and Maverick on 6 points. I'd congratulate myself but then I'd look like a wanker so I won't. Congrats to Goat and Maverick for again scoring highly as it was Goat's points haul in this round that helped him leap frog a few people into a stronger position at season's end.

Richo- 7 points
Goat69- 6 points
Maverick - 6 points
James2592- 5 points
Porsche91722- 5 points
Miguel - 4 points

Alright and onto the elephant in the room-the final overall tally for the season

Congratulations to James3592 who has won overall with 52 points by virtue of some good consistency throughout the season.

Second is Richo (I didnt even have to rig this to finish this high up in the points which is of great surprise to me)

Third is Miguel. Congrats to him also as he fought it out to the last round with James.

As promised there will be prizes for the top three excluding myself obviously. We're still working those out. James we can mail them out to you or give them to you in person if you will be at Bathurst 12hr in Feburary. Miguel keep an eye on the mailbox. There will also be a prize for the wooden spoon as originally planned so that goes to SP2511 and R4z3rw33n . Congrats to you two!

Otherwise to everyone else who entered especially those who made the effort to tip in every round thank you very much for taking part in this. It was originally created for a bit of fun so we hope you enjoyed yourselves. If you're at Bathurst 12hr come and say hi and we'll buy you a beer.

James3592-52 points
Richo – 49 points
Miguel- 46 points

Porsche91722- 45 points
Maverick- 44 points
Goat69- 42 points
RedZedMikey- 37 points
StueyB83 37 points
KSM86- 22 points
jdyort- 18 points
R4z3rw33n- 4 points
SP2511- 4 points

No idea at this point in time if we'll do it again or not but we will give you plenty of notice

Thanks from Richard and Adam
