Fantastic news.

There might be some questions about quantity but there's nothing wrong with the quality...

I appreciate Mark Griffiths commitment to his GT3 fleet - and I hope the trade off is that he is getting quicker. He is one of the most oft-racing personalities in the Aussie GT scene.

The 4 German giants in the top 6 after Q1. Even though Baumann hasn't raced here yet I'm surprised to see him back in 10th. Q2 this afternoon could shake things up a bit...

Man that was bloody windy out there.
Didn't lose any cars today, so we have 17 quality car/combo's starting tomorrow at sparrow's.
Great quality in the field with the 911 combo looking strong, but it's anyone's race.

Lago/Russell Lambo did a cat on the way to the starting grid.
Massive accident with Scotty Taylor and the car might end up a scrapper.

I hope nothing comes of this. AusGT needs to keep independence and separation from VASC. Quinn does appear less interested in the politics with the competitors every day though

It will be interesting to see where motorsport is in Aust in 5 years time.

The decline of V8 Supercars is already well and truly in progress. Hardly anyone out at SMP today. Not surprised considering they turned their backs on their fans with their pay to view deal. I expect a lot of previous (non fanatical) fans have stopped following them.

I remember back before they had their spat with ARDC, the hill at turn one would be packed with fans. Now bugger all.

Will GT4 step up as the premier professional class of motorsport in the future? Is this where the owners of VASC are looking to?

I also suspect a lot of previous FANATICAL fans have stopped following also.

No doubt that the wind may have kept a few away, but the place was empty.
I'll await the inflated official VASC figures.

I don't know how soon we are going to hear any of the outcome from the VASC/AGT meeting, but I'm concerned at the possible/probable outcome.
AGT and VASC are at a critical point and AGT's future requires positive direction now.
Fingers crossed that AGT doesn't bow to VASC's every whim and stands up for itself.

I left the lads on the hill this afternoon in the name of beating the traffic out. I was actually just done with the cold. I don't think I fooled anyone.

The weekend did everything it could to ruin the fun (weather, start time, grid absences) but I enjoyed the outing. Lago's DNS and Scott's early exit were a bummer. Van der Linde and Talbot's early charges were great to watch.

Nice to catch up with some faces, will see them again in Bathurst.

This round of the AEC was brought to you by bin chickens, the official chicken of Shakedown.

I spoke to Ken Collier from AGT about merchandise today and raised the point that it's frustrating that there is zero merchandise available.
To have unlimited VASC merchandise available, but not even being able to purchase an AGT cap is difficult to understand.
I made the point that i understood that it took up their time and that they wouldn't necessarily make any money from it, however organising a run of 50 shirts/caps/jackets would be snapped up pretty quickly by the hardcore AGT fans and i offered to sell them through shakedown if he'd like.
Ken was very receptive and i believe he will genuinely look into it.
